The Biblical Basis for Christian Agrarianism and The Village vs The City

The Biblical Basis for Christian Agrarianism and The Village vs The City are two lectures by Howard King that were instrumental in forming my current worldview. I hope that if you haven’t listened to them, that you will take the time to do so now. Feel free to discuss in the comments.

Scott – is there a place where we can download these two sermons ? Sermon Audio no longer has them available. Also, a couple of dairy questions, if you don’t mind:

    1. How much grain do you feed your cows at milking? We currently give a mixture of organic alfalfa, oats and barley – 10 lbs per cow, per day. They also have alfalfa, grass and oat hay and Sea-90 free choice – does this sound right to you? (all of our cows are jerseys)

    2. How do you train a new cow to milking?

    Thanks so much,

    Amy Maus

Hi Amy. I can email you the mp3 files. Your feed ration sounds pretty good. You might want to add some ground corn to the mix if they start to lose condition and look thin. Let their backs and the milk pail be the judge on feeding grain. Training a cow to milk takes time and kindness. Always move slow and gentle and don’t loose your temper. Sometimes if they are real kicky and jumpy I tie them over in the stall from the tie rail down the side of the cow and across the rump just above the rear udder attachment and tie off to a pole. Send me an email if you want the mp3s and I can share some other tricks for training mean cows. reformedfarmer@gmail.com
